We are all brothers! : response to the message of peace of Fiquelmont
This animation is based on the authentic letter, the pro-peace letter of Fiquelmont, to which CERS holds exlusive rights for the purposes of pedagogical activities.
In 1916, before leaving for other battles, German soldiers stationed at the Ferme de Fiquelmont (near Verdun, in Lorraine) hid in the ceiling of their room a Message of Peace* addressed to future generations (*authentic document).
After the students discover the First World War period using historical documents and images, they are divided into small groups and given the following instruction: “Read the letter and prepare a response together in response to the authors of the message. Tell them about the unprecedented creation of the European construction and how Europe managed to set the foundation for a period of peace which was unprecedented in its history. Explain to them the advantages of being European today”.
At the end of the workshop, each group presents its answer in the form of a letter, poster or other medium to the soldiers!
Objective: To discover the unique document of the message of peace of Fiquelmont and to connect it to European historical knowledge. To respond to this message using different forms.
